Course Summary

This course aims to deepen your interest and enjoyment of History as well as developing your ability to analyse keyevents and themes and evaluate source evidence. History lessons are interactive, and involve a balance of teacherinput, class discussion, video clips, independent reading, note-taking, pair work and group activities. Students areencouraged to participate in class debates about historical issues and to support their opinions with evidence.
Course Details
The two-year content includes:
Paper 1: Breadth study with interpretations: Germany 1918-1989
Paper 2: Depth study: Fascist Italy
Paper 3: Themes in breadth and aspects in depth: The British Experience of Warfare, c1790-1918
Coursework: An independently-researched assignment analysing and evaluating different historical interpretations on the abolition of the slave trade.
Entry requirements
As well as meeting our general entry requirements for Level 3 study (5 GCSE passes including English), you’ll also need to achieve a minimum of Grade 5 in GCSE History and Grade 5 in English.
