A-level Chemistry attempts to answer the big question ‘What is the world made of?’. It’s the search for thisanswer that makes Chemistry so fascinating. From investigating explosive reactions, to researching a newwonder drug to save millions of lives, the opportunities that chemistry provides are endless. How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will take A Level examinations during the summer of Y13. In addition, there will be the opportunity to earn a practical skills endorsement over the two years.

Entry requirements

As well as our general entry requirements for A level study, you’ll need to achieve a minimum of Grade 6/6 in Combined Sciences or 6 in GCSE Chemistry, and you must have a minimum Grade 6 in GCSE Maths is desirable.

SM6 Chemists have progressed to some incredible destinations including Medicine, Dentistry, VeterinaryScience, Pharmacy and Chemistry degree level study at some of the most renowned Russell groupuniversities. Other students went on to Degree Apprenticeships with Rolls Royce (Engineering), Reckitts(Analytical Chemistry) and The Royal Navy.
