The study of life itself, A level Biology explores the theories and principles involved in living systems, in all their intricate beauty. Biology explores the physical structure, molecular interactions, chemical composition, development, physiological mechanism, and evolution of living matter. Biology is a wondrous science that inspires us to discover more about the world around us. As a field of science, biology helps us understand the living world and the ways its many species (including humans) function, evolve, and interact.

Entry requirements
As well as meeting our general entry requirements for Level 3 study, you’ll need to achieve a minimum of Grade 6-6 in GCSE Combined Sciences or 6 in GCSE Biology, and a Grade 6 in GCSE maths is desirable.

A level Biology is a highly respected academic A level making it an excellent choice for access to a wide range of university courses and careers. You'll need biology for most degrees in medicine, biology, biomedical sciences, dentistry, dietetics, physiotherapy, orthoptics and veterinary medicine.
