Course Summary
‘The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of ourworld, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge tohelp bridge divides and bring people together’ Barack Obama.
A-level Geography equips you to engage critically with real world issues and places. You will grow as independentthinkers and as informed and engaged citizens, who understand the role and importance of geography as one ofthe key disciplines relevant to understanding the world’s changing peoples, places and environments.

Entry requirements
As well as meeting our general entry requirements for Level 3 study, you’ll need to achieve a grade 5 in Geography as well as English. We may consider students who have not taken Geography before but who have demonstrated strong results in other subject areas.

Geography is a multi-disciplinary subject so it can open doors to a wide range of careers and university options. Naturally, there are lots of jobs within the environmental sector which are more closely linked with studies in Geography. A third of our 2023 cohort progressed to study Geography or related courses such as Town Planning, Geology and Environmental Sciences at university. The diversity of wider skills you will acquire are highly attractive to many employers.
