Course Summary

This Level 3 Health and Social Care programme is designed for you if you’re interested in supporting others and developing a career in the care sector or progressing to higher education. You’ll learn through a balanced mix of theory and practical experience, gaining insight into real working environments within health and social care.

You’ll develop essential knowledge and skills across anatomy and physiology, infection prevention, and physiological, sociological, and psychological perspectives of healthcare practice. A proportion of your learning will take place in a simulated hospital ward, co-designed with NHS staff, ensuring you experience realistic, workplace-based training. You’ll also wear an industry-standard uniform to prepare you for professional practice.

The course is supported by strong links with the NHS, including access to the Young Health Champions Volunteering Programme. You may choose to complete your 175-hour work placement within the NHS, tailored to your career interests such as adult care or paediatrics. If this is not suitable, a dedicated Work Placement Officer will support you in securing an alternative placement.

Additional qualifications are available to enhance your employability and support progression to higher education, including Emergency First Aid at Work and the Award in Higher Level Studies, which provides additional UCAS points.
