If you enjoy working with your hands, have an eye for detail, and take pride in creating high quality work, this programme is the perfect next step towards a skilled trade career in the construction and woodworking industry. From day one, you’ll gain hands on experience working with a variety of tools, materials, and techniques used by professional joiners. You’ll learn how to read and interpret drawings, measure and mark materials accurately, create joints, assemble components, and finish products to a high standard.

• Principles of working in the construction industry
• Timber technology
• Planning and preparation for setting out and marking out
• Use of woodworking machinery
• Architectural joinery component production
• Assembly and finishing of architectural joinery products
How will it be delivered and assessed?
75 percent practical and 25 percent theory. You’ll spend the majority of your time in our fully equipped joinery workshops, developing your practical skills through a series of projects that mirror tasks carried out in the trade. You’ll learn how to produce joinery components to professional standards, while also improving your accuracy, speed, and craftsmanship.

Completing this programme opens the door to a range of exciting opportunities in the construction and woodworking industries. Many learners choose to progress onto Level 3 Bench Joinery, where they continue to develop advanced skills, work to tighter tolerances, and take on more complex projects. This next stage of study strengthens your technical knowledge and prepares you for supervisory or specialist roles within the trade. Alternatively, you may move directly into employment or secure a joinery apprenticeship, combining paid work with further training.
