Course Summary

Working in sport is ideal for you if you enjoy physical activity, teamwork, and helping others improve their fitness and performance. This Level 2 Sport Coaching and Gym Instructing programme provides a broad introduction to the sports industry and the key skills needed to progress into coaching or fitness-related careers.

You’ll explore coaching methods, participation in sport, tactical awareness, personal exercise, fitness, nutrition, and wellbeing. The course offers a strong balance between classroom-based learning and hands-on practical activity, allowing you to apply theory directly to real sporting environments.

You’ll gain valuable experience through industry-style assessments, planning and delivering training programmes, and supporting sports events for groups such as primary school pupils. Work experience in real settings, including opportunities with organisations such as Soccer Sensations, helps you build confidence and understand what a career in sport looks like.

You’ll also have the opportunity to gain additional sporting qualifications, boosting your employability and supporting progression within the industry.

Entry requirements

4 x GCSEs at grade 3(D) or above, or Level 1 Subject Qualification.

On successful completion, you can progress to a Level 3 Sport programme or move towards careers such as sports coach, gym instructor, personal trainer, fitness instructor, or leisure attendant.
