On this programme, you will learn how to prepare timber, operate a range of hand and power tools, and join pieces of wood together using techniques used by professional joiners every day. You will develop the fundamentals of the trade, including measuring, marking out, cutting, and assembling timber with accuracy, as well as maintaining your tools and understanding how a workshop or site operates.
You will gain plenty of hands-on experience in the workshop, working on real projects to build your confidence and practical skills, alongside theory lessons covering other trades, health, and safety. Throughout the programme, you will also develop transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, precision, and attention to detail – essential for progressing to higher-level construction courses, apprenticeships, or entry-level roles in the industry.
