Course Details

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The units covered in this course are:

• Working in engineering
• Engineering technology
• Manufacturing technology
• Bench fitting
• Fabricating sheet metal
• Constructing and testing electronic circuits

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?

This course is for you if you want a career in one of the many different fields of engineering. It is also a progression route to our City & Guilds Level 3 in Engineering course.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Most of the course is completed internally through work done in the workshop and in the classroom. Two of the units are externally assessed by examinations; these will be completed in January and June.

Entry requirements

You must have a minimum of four GCSEs grade 9-3, including Maths and preferably Science (or BTEC equivalent).

EXPERIENCES

This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from academic and industry professionals in talks and workshops, as well as visiting leading universities across the UK. You will also be given the chance to take part in multiple Upskilling activities, including our Green Power Team.

PROGRESSION

This is the perfect course to set the basis for a Level 3 qualification in Engineering.

OUTCOMES

Students who complete a qualification in Engineering go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Electrical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Chemical Engineer, Conservationist or Mechanic.
