Course Summary

Acrylic nails are one of the best methods of creating stunning nails. Through a mixture of both practical and theory knowledge you will learn how to design, apply, maintain and remove the acrylics.

You will need to purchase a uniform and kit from the college supplier.

Health and Safety in the salonAnatomy and physiology of the arm, hand and nailUnderstand contra-indications that prevent or restrict the application of acrylic nailsComplete consultations, plan and prepare for acrylic nail treatments with clientCarry out tip application and product applicationCarry out maintenance and removal of acrylic nailsBe able to provide aftercare advice for client

Each session will begin with theory delivery and then practical tasks.

This is a City & guilds Level 2 qualification. Observation of assessments carrying out acrylic nail services, orally questioned to show understanding and knowledge of what you have learnt. Online theory tests to show understanding and knowledge of what you have learnt.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, preferably including either English or Maths

Progression from Level 1 to 2 would also require a pass at the lower-level vocational course.
