Course Summary

The Pre-supported Internship is designed to equip learners with additional needs with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for successful progression into a work environment such as offsite work placement.

Course Details

Through structured, in-class, work-based tasks, the programme develops understanding of the world of work while building confidence, resilience and independence. Learners are supported to build essential employability skills, including interpreting payslips, collecting and inputting data, completing routine tasks accurately, following instructions, problem solving , and using initiative appropriately within safe boundaries. It also offers a qualification in employability to develop essential skills and knowledge to transition into a Supported Internship or employment.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Work experience - Students will complete internal work experience (eg in canteen, Facilities department) and will be supported by a Job Coach.

Trips, visits & guest speakers - Students will be able to explore the local area to develop independent travel skills (mandatory for progression into the Supported Internship). A term using our offsite facility to practice independent life skills such as shopping and cooking. Local jobs Fair to talk with employers.

Entry requirements

Level 1 – 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above.
