Course Summary

Our programmes are designed to be flexible and allow you to explore and flourish in your chosen discipline, preparing you well for higher level study or for entering the creative industries. Students work on live briefs to give them real-life experience of their chosen industry. As you progress through the levels, the courses offer a practical, industry-designed format that is filled with creative projects. You’ll be in our real media suites, using software from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite such as Premiere Pro to develop your key media skills.

Course Details

At Level 1:

Learners taking this qualification will study two mandatory modules:

• Exploring and Developing Art and Design Skills Development

• Art and Design Project and Responding to a Creative Brief


You will also gain transferable skills that enable learners to progress:

• The ability to learn independently

• The ability to actively investigate and problem solve• Practical and personal communication skills

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This course is assessed through practical activities and written coursework, depending on the subject matter.

Work experience placements will be available with industry professionals. This involves discussing and understanding client briefs, working directly with customers whilst photographing or recording content for client consumption.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs grade E/2. Or a Skills for Life or Entry Level Qualification. And a successful interview.

Your next steps...

Successful completion of Level 1 will lead directly on to the Level 2 programme.
