Course Summary

This qualification focuses on practical skills and knowledge. This ensures that when the learner completes the qualification they will have gained practical experience and understand the expectations of the situations that they could face in a job role within the engineering sector.

  • Engineering techniques
  • Engineering principles
  • Engineering maintenance techniques
  • Turning and milling techniques and technology
  • Understanding computer-aided drawing

Optional units include:

  • Electrical and electronic principles
  • Fabrication and welding principles

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed by a range of techniques to include, observation of carrying out practical activities in workshops, oral questioning, written reports and on line testing.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade at grade C / 4 or above

    Applications from mature students without the above qualifications are welcomed and will be considered on an individual basis.

    • Or NVQ level one
    • Or equivalent
