Course Summary
Turn your passion for hair into a career!
Ready to take your hairdressing skills to the next level? Our VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Studies is designed for learners who want to develop the practical skills, confidence and industry knowledge needed to start their career in professional hairdressing.
You’ll train in a realistic salon environment, developing your skills through practical, hands-on learning. Throughout the programme, you’ll work with clients, build your confidence and learn what it takes to deliver professional salon services from consultation through to the finished look.
Be ready for the salon!
Our aim is to help you complete the programme feeling confident, capable and ready to take your first steps into the hair industry.
By completing your Level 2 qualification and developing your practical experience, you can progress into employment and have the skills and confidence to work towards a role as a Junior Stylist in a professional salon. You’ll develop not just your technical skills, but also the speed, communication, consultation, professionalism and client care that employers look for in a salon environment.
At Niche, you’ll get opportunities to experience what life in the hair industry is really like. Your programme includes industry-related enrichment, careers activities and work experience, helping you explore different career paths, meet industry professionals and build valuable workplace experience.
Whether your goal is to become a Junior Stylist, progress to advanced hairdressing, specialise in colour or styling, work in a high-end salon or eventually build your own business, this course gives you the skills and foundation to start building your career!

Alongside your Hairdressing course, you’ll also continue working on your Maths and English. If you achieve a Grade 3 or below in Maths and English, you’ll work towards Functional Skills qualifications as part of your programme.
