Course Summary

This will enable you to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of science, with an emphasis on fascinating topics linked to forensic and criminal investigation. You will take part in a range of laboratory practicals, developing an understanding of common practices in laboratory settings.

You will also have the opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths open to you and find out about how you can pursue various careers in the wide world of science.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you want to progress onto higher study at Level 3 in a science-related field.

Course Details

You will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics throughout this course to build your scientific skills, knowledge and understanding.

We also offer modules in:
crime scene investigation
the human body
the environment

How will it be delivered and assessed?


Entry requirements

You must have a minimum of four GCSEs grade 9-3 or equivalent, including English, Maths and preferably a minimum of double 3 in Science.

Experiences


This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from academic and industry professionals, talks and workshops, as well as visiting leading universities across the UK. You will also be given the opportunity to take part in events like our Pulse CSI day, which helps you to experience a day in the life as a CSI Investigator and Forensic Scientist.

Progression

This is the perfect course to set the basis for a Level 3 qualification in a science-related subject.

Outcomes

Students who complete a qualification in Forensic and Criminal Investigation go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Analytical Chemist, Crime Scene Investigator, Forensic Scientist, Police Officer or Scientific Laboratory Technician.
