Course Summary

Are you interested in a future in Marketing? You will study different areas of the marketing function in business with the aim of improving your knowledge of careers in marketing, fundamental marketing principles and how to develop a successful customer communications plan and strategy. You will focus on marketing in practice and how businesses manage customer communications. You will develop a customer communications plan and strategy to support your understanding of communication techniques.

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?

The programme is aimed at those who are interested in employment in marketing agencies or in-house marketing departments. It will also help you to move on to further study in higher education or to professional qualifications related to marketing. This is a good course to study alongside BTEC Extended Certificate or A-Level Business.

Course Details

In your first year, you will study the following topics:
Careers in Marketing
Marketing Principles

The second year, you will focus on marketing in practice and how businesses manage customer communications. You will develop a customer communications plan and strategy to support your understanding of communication techniques businesses use to achieve their end goal of boosting awareness or revenue and measure the effectiveness drawing from your learning in Year 1 of the programme.

Entry requirements

You must have a minimum of five GCSEs grades 9-4, including English Language and Maths.

EXPERIENCES

This course will provide you with the opportunity to take part in trips to businesses like Disneyland in Paris to look at how they market a worldwide brand. You will also experience talks from visiting speakers and visit many universities to help you to understand the best career pathway for you.

PROGRESSION

You may, of course, use the course as a means of securing a Higher Education place on one of the very many business or marketing and advertising related degree courses available at university. It will also provide you with a good basis for starting a higher level apprenticeship or even entering the world of work once leaving college.

OUTCOMES

Students who complete a qualification in Business or marketing go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing and Advertising.
