WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
In your first year, you will undertake the following projects:
Term 1: Performance based project
• Outreach based performance – building on the success of City of Culture and site specific work
• Fusion of performance skills and styles with a focus on story-telling
• Focus on collaboration, team dynamic and developing skill sets
Term 2: Performance based project
• How stories/works have been told across different disciplines or have evolved and developed over time
• Practical exploration of how theatre has changed according to trends in the industry
• Focus on audience expectations and demands
Term 3: Performance based project
• Creatively devised, produced, designed and delivered by the students
• To be delivered at an external venue
• Original piece devised by students that allows all of their strengths to be incorporated and showcased
• Building on skills developed throughout the year
As well as the three main projects in Year 1, there will be regular lessons that focus on skills for the industry, such as:
• Audition skills, materials, and techniques in all genres
• Guidance in UCAS and applications for further training – knowing where and how to apply
• Health and well-being, including mindfulness
• Self-marketing and promotion for a competitive freelance industry
The second year will follow a similar format to the first, with large-scale performance projects throughout the year.
This course is for you if you have a passion for Performing Arts and if you want to immerse yourself into the world of workshops, rehearsals and production meetings. It will put you in the strongest place possible for your future creative career – be that straight into employment or via further training/university.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Entry requirements
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs 9-4 or equivalent, including English Language or Literature and Maths.

EXPERIENCES
This course is in partnership with the Northern Academy of Performing Arts, a leading provider for Performing Arts in the country. NAPA will work with you to take part in their productions, whether that be on stage or behind the scenes. You will also be given the opportunity to take part in showcases with Wilberforce, whether that be our Achievement Awards Evening or Creative Arts Festival.
