Course Summary

The Graphic Media Design course is designed to equip you with essential creative, design, and technical skills across both traditional and new media, preparing you for a successful future within a wide range of creative industries. You’ll explore how ideas are developed, refined, and communicated visually, while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and processes.

Your learning is structured around professional, work-based units, supported by work experience and industry-set briefs. These projects reflect real-world creative practice and allow you to respond to client needs, manage deadlines, and develop professional workflows. Throughout the course, there is a strong focus on your individual ambitions and future goals, supporting you to build a distinctive personal portfolio that showcases your creative strengths.

You’ll explore a wide range of design disciplines, including animation, advertising, video and sound design, web and interactive media, print-based design, illustration and character design, branding, logo design, packaging, and product design. This breadth allows you to experiment, specialise, and develop a clear creative direction.

You’ll work in industry-standard design studios with access to Apple Mac computers, Adobe Creative software, and professional lens-based media equipment. Facilities include a film and green screen studio, video and sound editing software, and digital drawing and image-making tools.
