Course Summary
Our Childcare course is designed to build your confidence and equip you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to support children’s learning and development in real-world settings.
You’ll explore a variety of engaging units such as healthy eating, safety, craft activities, psychology, and learning through play, which is all essential for understanding how to work effectively with children.
Training takes place in our state-of-the-art nursery and sensory room, where you’ll gain hands-on experience in a realistic environment. With a strong focus on both theory and practice, this course opens the door to a wide range of career opportunities.
Course Details
These units will help you to understand what it means to work with children.
What you will learn
- The role of the early years practitioner
- Legislation, framework and professional practice
- Development and learning for school readiness
- Professional development
- Physical Care routines for children
- How to meet the needs of the developing Child
- Supporting children’s play
You will also learn transferable key skills for employment, such as communication and teamwork. Building essential workplace skills that will help you succeed in any professional setting.
Work experience - will vary depending on the level you are studying at, for Level 1: Participate in a short internal work-related activity or complete an external placement in a local early year setting.
Trips, visits & guest speakers - A variety of exciting trips, visits and guest speakers will be made available to you during your time on the Early Years course. These may include Doncaster Wildlife Park, Eureka, local Childhood Centres, and a Forest School. You will also learn additional valuable skills such as Paediatric First Aid, Stress Awareness and Makaton.
