If you enjoy working with children and want a career where you can make a real difference, our Childcare Skills Experience programme is a great place to start.

As part of the programme, you will work towards the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings. This practical qualification introduces you to the knowledge and skills needed to support children's care, learning and development from birth to 11 years old.

You'll explore how children grow, learn and develop, the importance of play and physical activity, and how to create safe, healthy and supportive environments. You'll also learn about the responsibilities of childcare professionals, including safeguarding, nutrition and the legislation that helps keep children safe.

Through engaging classroom activities, practical tasks and real work experience, you'll develop your communication, teamwork and confidence while gaining an understanding of what it's like to work in childcare and educational settings.

You'll also undertake a work placement, giving you the opportunity to put your learning into practice, build valuable experience and develop the skills employers are looking for.

This course is ideal if you're interested in working in nurseries, preschools, primary schools or other childcare settings, or if you're considering progressing to further qualifications in childcare, early years education or supporting teaching and learning.

The qualification is assessed through an internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.

You will also complete a mandatory Professional Skills Record during work placements in both an early years setting and a primary school.

The qualification can help you progress towards roles such as:
