Course Summary

The Health & Social Care sector is exciting and worthwhile. You will work with those who are vulnerable, helping them become increasingly independent, and to have dignity and choice in their lives. If you want to help and support people, are looking for ‘hands-on’ experience to care for their needs and build trusting relationships, then this course is for you. Throughout this two-year course, which is the equivalent of two A Levels, you will study a range of topics including anatomy and physiology for Health & Social Care and caring for individuals with Dementia. You will also study specialist units including topics such as abuse and treatment of physiological disrders. During the two years you will go on four separate weeks of work placement, such as a residential or day care organisation or an early years setting, which will enable you to bring your studies to life and apply your new skills in a real work setting.
