Course Summary
DFN Project SEARCH Hull - CHCP is a Supported Internship programme based within City Health Care Partnership (CHCP), a Health and Social Care company that forms part of the NHS family, offering a variety of different placement opportunities throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The programme lasts one academic year (Sept - July), giving the interns the opportunity to experience three rotations in different departments, learning a variety of useful and transferable job skills, through hands-on experience. Interns are required to attend Monday to Friday, from 9:00 - 16:00.
We have a variety of information sessions going on throughout the year, in-person and online (check the images for a detailed list of all available). We are accepting applications for the 2026/2027 class of interns, with interviews to go ahead in March 2026.
Course Details
A typical day of a DFN Project SEARCH intern starts at 9:00 in our base room in Hull’s City Centre, which is a 10-minute walk from the Bus/Train Station.
During that 9:00 session, interns learn a variety of different employability and life skills, such as customer service, budgeting, workplace safety, etc. We also invite a variety of guest speakers to talk to our interns about employment, independent living skills and areas of interest to the interns.
At 10:00 am, the interns travel independently using public transport to their placements in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire. Travel training will be provided to support the interns prior to starting placement.
At placement, the interns will work a typical 5-hour workday in their chosen role, forming part of the CHCP team. They will be supported with learning their tasks through a CHCP mentor and the DFN Project SEARCH Job Coach, who will break down the tasks and create resources to assist the intern in working independently. We offer our interns a variety of placement opportunities in the following areas: Administration, Catering, Care & Activities, Housekeeping, Marketing & Engagement, Logistics & IT and Stock.
At 15:30, the interns will meet with the rest of their fellow interns on an MS TEAMS meeting, to discuss their day and review their skills before leaving to go home at 16:00.
After finishing the course, interns will continue to be supported for a further 8 months in their search for employment, through Job Clubs. In these sessions, we will support with applying for jobs and interview skills.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this programme. However, interns will have weekly feedback from their Mentors and Job Coach with support put in place to help them develop further with their skills.
