About us

As the largest A Level provider in Hull and East Riding, the statistics are straightforward; students do very well at Wyke Sixth Form College, with our results justifying our position in the top 10% of all Sixth Form providers nationally.

Our students have progressed to exceptional destinations, achieving 145 A* Grades at A Level, 55% A*-B at A Level and 85% of students on vocational courses receiving Distinction or better in 2025.

We hope to help even more students make exceptional progress while studying at Wyke Sixth Form College, along with developing the wider personal qualities that ensures they truly stand out. The atmosphere here is a friendly one and expectations are high. There is little need for rules because we expect students to be self-disciplined.

The Personal Development Team

Every student is allocated an individual progress tutor who supports and guides them through their study programme over the course of their time with us.

The Learning Support Team

The Learning Support team provides extra study support to students who need it or who want to improve their study skills.

Safeguarding

Wyke Sixth Form College has a dedicated safeguarding team who are here to help you. Within the team is a designated safeguarding officer whose role is to provide support, advice and guidance to all students on a daily basis regarding safeguarding and emotional wellbeing.

Financial Support

Wyke Sixth Form College offers financial support through the College discretionary award. If you are eligible, the College will provide you with a travel pass or a meal allowance.

This year, Wyke’s outstanding Oxbridge programme continued to place students at these highly prestigious universities. All eyes were on former Kelvin Hall student Katie Lister as she opened her outstanding results of A* in Sociology, and As in English Literature and Spanish. Her excellent grades secured her place to study Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Reflecting on her time at Wyke, Katie offered advice to future students who are considering applying to Oxbridge: “I would say believe in yourself and you can do it. I didn't think I could do it, but with the support of the staff at Wyke, you absolutely can do it. And don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it, because you can”.

This year a record 20 students secured highly competitive Degree Apprenticeships were companies finance a student’s degree, pay them a wage, whilst also training them in the workplace. Former Wolfreton student, Ethan Pygas secured a Degree Apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering. After collecting his A in Maths, B in Physics and B in Biology, Ethan said, “So at end of this year I'll be starting my degree apprenticeship. I'll be doing aerospace engineering, a level six qualification lasting about five years. And through that, I'll get training, I'll be getting a paid salary, and I'll be networking with other people like minded as myself. And yeah, I'm very excited for it.”

With three A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, former Beverley Longcroft student Soleman Ranjous has secured his place to study Medicine at University College London. Whilst at Wyke, Soleman really benefitted from the support offered by the College’s Pre-Medical Programme. After collecting his results, he looked back at his time at Wyke: “I think one of my highlights at was just getting to know more people and coming here to anew environment. And because you're meeting people who study the same subject as you with the same aspirations, it's really cool”. Soleman is one of 19 Wyke students who have secured a place on either Medicine, Veterinary Science or Dentistry courses, a record year.
