Why are you interested in Engineering? My brother went to Malet Lambert before beginning HETA and he really enjoyed it! I wanted to become an apprentice at HETA as I really enjoyed maths and science at school, and the idea of engineering has always really interested me.
What are you studying at HETA? I am currently studying multiple different subjects, which result in achieving an Engineering Qualification. Some examples of what I am studying now include: Maths, Electrical and Mechanical Science, Design and Welding.
Why did you choose HETA over college? I chose HETA as I did not want to stay in a similar learning environment to school and wanted to study engineering full time. The bonus was earning money.
How much do you earn at your company? I earn £9,750 a year.
How do you feel about earning while you’re learning? To earn while I learn is a great bonus to have as I am able to spend money which I have never had before. I enjoy participating in more social activities without being restricted. You feel as though you’re being rewarded for the work you put in on a monthly basis.
Where do you see yourself in the future/ when completing your apprenticeship? I see myself owning an engineering company alongside my brother one day.
Do you have any advice to people who want to pursue a career in engineering? I advise anyone who is looking to pursue a career in engineering into put a lot of effort and determination when finding a sponsorship at the company open day.

Why are you interested in Engineering? I wanted to challenge myself and be surrounded by problem solving and quick thinking.
What are you studying at HETA? I am studying BTEC multiskilled engineering.
How much do you earn at your company? I earn £13,950 a year.
How do you feel about earning while you’re learning? Earning while you are learning is a great food in the door to engineering, it gives you more motivation to do well and succeed.
Where do you see yourself in the future/ when completing your apprenticeship? I hope to progress in my company, and possibly work in a role of a manager.
Do you have any advice to people who want to pursue a career in engineering? Don’t give up when you get knocked down as it is always worth it in the end.
