The Level 3 Applied Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition is equivalent to one A Level. The course will provide you with a broad basis of study for the Food Science and Nutrition Sector.

The units studied are:
- Meeting Nutritional Needs of Specific Groups
- Ensuring Food is Safe to Eat
And then a choice of either:
- Current Issues in Food Science and Nutrition
- Experimenting to Solve Food Production Problems

How will it be delivered and assessed?
- Meeting Nutritional Needs of Specific Groups β Internally and Externally Assessed. 105 Minute Exam (90 minutes plus 15 minute reading time), plus an equally weighted piece of coursework which looks at a case study which needs to be analysed and a menu designed and produced for this case study. The exam is set in June each year.
- Ensuring Food is Safe to Eat β 8 hour timed assessment which is externally assessed.
And then a choice of either:
- Current Issues in Food Science and Nutrition β Internally set and externally moderated research project looking at food science, functions of ingredients and cooking methods.
- Experimenting to Solve Food Production Problems - Internally set and externally moderated research project looking at current issues linked to issues related to food science and nutrition.
