An exciting opportunity to explore the culture, language and customs of not just Spain but the wider Spanish speaking world. You will learn Spanish to a level where you can communicate with Spanish speakers world wide.
Course Details
Aspects of Spanish speaking society, current trends and current issues. Artistic culture in the Spanish speaking world. Aspects of political life in the Spanish speaking world. You will also study a Spanish film and a Spanish novel.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All four skills are assessed. Paper 1 Listening, Reading and Writing. This paper also includes translations into English and Spanish. 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper 2, Writing. You will write 2 essays, 1 about the book and 1 aboout the film. This paper lasts 2 hours. Paper 3, Speaking. Your speaking exam lasts between 21 and 23 minutes, including 5 minutes preparation time.
Entry requirements
Spanish GCSE grade 6.
- Strong motivation and enjoyment of the process of language learning.
- An ability to work independently and discover language for yourself.
- A willingness to work with others and communicate thoughts and feelings.
- The desire to gain an insight into the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries where the language is spoken.
