Course Summary
The Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners provide music industry qualifications that will equip learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding for entry to employment in the music industry or progression to further study at a higher level.
The qualification aims to offer practical structured learning with the flexibility to specialise in different disciplines directly relevant to employment within the music industry, including composition, performance, business and technology. The flexibility and range of unit choice are directly applicable to the music industry, where portfolio careers are the norm and those seeking employment often require knowledge and skills covering a breadth of relevant disciplines.
Course Details
Music Technology is a hands-on, practical course in which you will develop skills in composing using digital software, studio recording, music production techniques, sequencing and remixing and develop your own branding. Students will study the modern music industry and deal with real-world professional scenarios, equipping them with the skills necessary to enter this exciting field. You will also develop a range of transferable skills including time management, teamwork and problem solving.

- Using a Digital Audio Workstation
- Using a Keyboard with a DAW
- Sequencing and Production
- Development of recording technology
- Radio Podcast Production
- Evolution of the record Industry
- Studio sound recording
- Composing music for Adverts and TV
- 1 other unit chosen by the student
This course is based in our bespoke Music centre which is fitted out with a music studio, practice rooms and modern production equipment, enabling you to learn in a practical and enjoyable way, gaining hands-on experience of the different elements of music technology/performance. A wide range of units are available, allowing students to focus on their own areas of interest such as using music software (DAW), composing for media, studio recording, music promotion, music production, remixing and many more. The course is assessed through a variety of practical tasks and written assignments, enabling students to play to their strengths and enjoy their learning.

Entry requirements
You will need to meet the Level 3 Applied General entry requirements of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language and/or Maths, you will also require a keen interest and passion for music is essential. Previous experience of performing music and/or using music technology software would be an advantage.
