Course Summary

Music Performance is a hands-on, practical course which will allow you to grow and develop your skills as a performer. You will play in groups and work in duos or solo, developing rehearsal skills and confidence in stagecraft. You will be involved in live performances, both in and out of college, improve your instrumental skills and develop your own branding.

Course Details

Students will study the modern music industry and deal with real-world professional scenarios, equipping them with the skills necessary to enter this exciting field. You will also develop a range of transferable skills including time management, teamwork and problem solving.

This course is based in our bespoke Music centre which is fitted out with a music studio, practice rooms and modern production equipment, enabling you to learn in a practical and enjoyable way, gaining hands-on experience of the different elements of music technology/performance. A wide range of units are available, allowing students to focus on their own areas of interest such as live performance, rehearsal skills, studio recording, music promotion, auditioning skills, careers in the music industry and many more.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is assessed through a variety of practical tasks and written assignments, enabling students to play to their strengths and enjoy their learning.

Entry requirements

You will need to meet the Level 3 Applied General entry requirements of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language and/or Maths. GCSE Music is not required but must be at least grade 3-5 standard on instrument (audition required).
