Course Summary

This qualification will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children�s and Young People�s sectors. This qualification: Aimed at learners who wish to develop an understanding of these settings before deciding whether working in the sector is for them. Allows learners to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career progression in the sectors. Allows learners to tailor their learning to their interests through the provision of a broad range of optional units. Provides opportunities for the development of transferable skills. Supports progression to Level 2 qualifications in health, social care or children's settings. Provides learners with the opportunity to progress to employment, in due course, in a range of job roles in the care sectors.

Course Details

  • To complete the diploma learners must achieve a minimum of 37 credits, credits per unit vary, however below gives you some of the unit examples:
  • Understand the Range of Service Provision and Roles Within Health and Social Care.
  • Introductory Awareness of Person-Centered Support in Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings .
  • Understand the Principles and Values in Health and Social Care (Adults and Children and Young People), Early Years and Childcare.
  • Introductory Awareness of Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings.
  • Awareness of Protection and Safeguarding in Health and Social Care (Adults and Children and Young People), Early Years and Childcare.
  • Introduction to Communication in Health and Social Care (Adults and Children and Young People), Early Years and Childcare.
  • Introductory Awareness of Health and Safety in Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board. The qualifications will be pass or refer and all the assessment criteria for the chosen units must be achieved in order to obtain a pass.

Entry requirements

You will need a full Entry Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, or 3 GCSEs at grades 1-2, including Maths and English. A passion for the subject and one satisfactory reference are also required.

Your next steps...

On completing the qualifications, learners who wish to pursue a career can progress to other level 2 qualifications such as the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People�s Workforce or the Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care.
