Course Summary
Health and Social Care is a varied and exciting course which includes a mixture of classroom-based lessons, group work, practical sessions, group and individual visits, and the chance for independent study. If you are studying the Double or the Triple, you will also undertake a work experience placement in a Health and Social Care setting to expand your skills and knowledge and put your learning into practice.
This is a thought-provoking subject which covers protecting vulnerable people, treating service users with dignity and respect, and examining the psychological and sociological perspective of health and social care. You will develop transferable skills throughout the course as you learn to both manage your own work and perform effectively as part of a team. Your critical thinking and analysis will also improve as you research and produce your coursework.
If you are enthusiastic about working in a caring environment Health and Social Care is a great option for you. This course covers some elements of science such as anatomy and physiology and combines well with our Applied General or A Level science courses.

The triple is equivalent to three A Levels. Units of study include:

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment will involve coursework, controlled assessments and written exams.
Entry requirements
You will need to meet the Applied General entry requirements of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language and/or Maths
