Course Summary
This year for the first time we are extremely pleased to be able to offer our students the Extended Project Qualification.
This is an additional undertaking that will compliment students A Level/Vocational study.
Students will plan, research and write a 5,000 word dissertation on a topic that they are interested in. This will be supervised by our specialise research team within the Sixth Form.
Course Details
In an EPQ students will:
- identify, design, plan and complete an individual project, applying a range of organisational skills and strategies to meet agreed objectives

obtain, critically select and use information from a range of sources; analyse data, apply it relevantly and demonstrate understanding of any appropriate linkages, connections and complexities of the topic
• select and use a range of skills, solve problems, take decisions critically, creatively and flexibly, to achieve planned outcomes
• evaluate outcomes both in relation to agreed objectives and own learning and performance. Select and use a range of communication skills and media to present evidenced outcomes and conclusions in appropriate format.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assigned a research supervisor who will mentor you through the EPQ programme. This mentor will be a specialise in your research area and as a result will be able to offer you guidance as to the best way in which to approach your research question and how to pursue your goals.
This will be supported by timetabled research workshops designed to give you all the skills you need to complete a fantastic research project!
Entry requirements
The EPQ is currently only open to Year 13 students.
Course availability is at the discretion of the Sixth Form Team.

The EPQ gives students skills that will enable them to be successful at University and as a result it is a qualification which is desired by top Universities. Students will gain invaluable research experience and be able to specialise in an area of study which they are interested in, whilst also gaining valuable UCAS points.
