Course Summary
Welding – EAL Diploma in Engineering Skills
Develop practical welding skills using MIG, TIG and MMA processes while learning to work safely and confidently in a modern engineering environment. This hands-on programme provides a strong foundation for progression into engineering apprenticeships, employment and specialist welder training, including the opportunity to work towards industry-recognised welding coding. Skilled welders are needed across Yorkshire in sectors including advanced manufacturing, energy, rail, construction, aerospace and engineering maintenance, providing excellent opportunities to build a rewarding engineering career.
Course Details
You’ll develop practical skills in MIG, TIG and MMA welding, learning how to set up equipment, select the correct welding parameters and produce quality welds in a range of positions. You’ll also learn about welding materials, joint types, engineering drawings, inspection, quality, workshop safety and industry standards, giving you the core skills needed to progress towards an apprenticeship or future coded welder status.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment in this course comprises of a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, and in-class examinations.
Entry requirements
GCSEs at Grade 9-3 in English and Maths.
