Course Summary

The T Level qualification has been designed by a panel of employers, professional bodies, and education specialists. The purpose of the Level 3 Technical qualification is to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills to progress into skilled employment or higher-level training relevant to the T Level.

This qualification is a combination of classroom theory, practical learning, and industry placement (work experience) with an employer.

Course Details

The Technical Qualification is the main classroom-based element of the course and consists of two components:

Core Content
The Core Content focuses on the students’ knowledge and understanding relevant to design, surveying and planning within the construction industry. The breadth of the content will ensure students are able to apply their skills in a variety of contexts and purposes, relating to employment in the occupations linked to the qualification.

Occupational Specialisms
Although there are four specialisms available in this T Level we only offer the Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment route, as this offers the broadest range of skills and progression opportunities.

Additional costs
You will require the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of safety boots. For further information please ask our tutors at our open events and guidance discussions.

Industry placement
The industry placement allows students to develop their occupational specialism skills as well as those necessary to working in any environment, such as effective planning, working with others, health & safety and promoting equality and diversity.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This programme will be delivered in our modern workshops and classrooms, using our fantastic industry standard equipment. We will be focusing on developing your practical skills, underpinning knowledge and professional behaviours ready for assessment. All assessments will be carried out in accordance with awarding body guidelines. To prepare you prior to your assessments, we will build up your skills, knowledge and behaviours to give you the best chance of achieving your potential. We will sequence the curriculum deliver to meet industry needs and work with you through each step to build your confidence. You will be participating in an industry placement throughout your programme.

You will attend College for 4 days per week in Year One and 3 days per week in Year Two.

Assessment:

Year One

  • Core 1 – written exam
  • Core 2 – written exam
  • Employer set projects
  • Assignments

Year Two

  • Occupational Specialism
  • Assignments

Successful completion of 315 hours industry placement over two academic years.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Sciences and GCSE Maths at grade 5.

Your next steps...

You may progress into employment, an apprenticeship, higher apprenticeship or higher-level of study, including university.
Career paths include Architect, Quantity Surveyor and Site Manager.
