Course Summary

A Level Music is an exciting and engaging course that furthers your academic study of music from atheoretical standpoint, encourages creative expression as a composer, and will continue to challenge you in your pursuit of excellence as a performer.

Course Details

The course covers a vast range of genres and styles, including western Classical music, Rock and Pop and contemporary classical styles from the 20th and 21st centuries.

35% Solo Performance Recital

25% Composition

40% Theory and Analysis

Entry requirements

As well as our general entry requirements for Level 3 study, applicants will have ideally studied music at GCSE level though it is acknowledged that circumstances may have prohibited this from being possible and so a combination of vocational study, theoretical qualifications and performance skills may be enough to prepare a student for A Level study. Performance skills should be in line with Grade 5 standard at the start of the course.

Your next steps...

A Level Music can lead to musical progression in a variety of guises, including to conservatoire level for specialist performance study, as well as to academic university music courses and contemporary music colleges.
