Course Summary

For the last 13 years we have achieved 100% pass rate, and all students achieve A* to C grades. 72% of students in 2023 achieved A*-B grades.

If you love the Media, enjoy analysing a range of products and creativity this is the course for you. Studying the course will give you in-depth knowledge of Photography, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. The media industry is the fastest growing industry in the UK and the subject is contemporary and relevant to you.

Course Details

A Level students will study: Advertising, Radio, Film Promotion, Magazines, Online media, Television and Newspapers. You will study how media products are created for an audience through media language and representation. You will also study how media products have changed throughout history and how society and audiences have changed. You’ll consider how Media institutions target particular audiences to sell their products. The coursework will involve you making either Film posters and DVD covers or a magazine article and front cover using specialist digital software for a particular audience.

30% Coursework, 70% Examination

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our general entry requirements for Level 3 study. Media studies is analytical and essay writing having a 5 in English language is desirable but not essential. No previous experience of Adobe packages is needed.
