This-Ability is a National Lottery Community Fund programme aimed at finding 500 young people sustainable employment.
The aim of the project is to provide specialist support and training for young people to access work and learning. This will give young people the opportunities to explore and experience specific occupational sectors. Participants will also complete an ‘Employability Passport’.
Goodwin Development trust are an organisation committed to improving the quality of life within the communities of Hull. We help by identifying and addressing the needs of the local people and by working in partnership with public, private and third sector organisations.
Course Details
Goodwin will offer a blended programme of work preparation education and training classes, alongside setting up meaningful and supported work experience placements within the local cultural, creative and arts sector to enhance opportunities for progression into paid work. Accredited functional skills courses on offer for those who may require them.
A lead keyworker will also work with participants on a one to one basis to cover their learning and developmental experience, whilst ensuring any barriers around disability, health or mental health are addressed. Work experience can be supported with access to job coaching sessions to promote induction and progression for both participant and employer.
Goodwin offer a wide array of internal opportunities that will enhance learner experience and development to include access to participate in.
• Fit and Fed sessions, promoting health and wellbeing
• Youth Arts Programme Activity, helping to design and run arts events
• Games Design Sessions for avid gamers
• Scroll Magazine, an online arts magazine that releases issues monthly.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Learners will work their way through an Employment Passport with a dedicated mentor ensuring that they achieve all elements of the passport before progressing
