Course Details

The MC4C programme delivers Enterprise Skills and Business skills sessions as well as providing each participant with their own advisor to offer expert advice and guidance through individual one-to-one sessions.

The ‘Big 13’ Enterprise Skills sessions cover 13 skills that are valued by employers and are also important for those setting up in business. These include teamwork, ethical decision-making, creativity and innovation and financial literacy to name just a few. Participants are given an Enterprise passport to work through and the sessions are delivered through presentations, discussions and practical activities.
The Business sessions cover, in more depth, issues that those setting-up in business will need to consider, such as registering with HMRC for tax purposes and how to get the best out of social media. They often involve expert guest speakers.
Everyone on programme is provided with an advisor to provide them with individual support and guidance and sessions usually take place on a weekly basis for approximately one-to-two hours. These can be booked with the Advisor as and when necessary to suit the participant and there are options to access funding for childcare for all the above sessions if this is required.
Those who are going into self-employment are given support to complete a business plan and have the opportunity to access grants from the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank in order to develop their business idea. In addition, each young person will be allocated a mentor; someone from the business community, often with experience, and knowledge of the relevant sector, to support them in the initial start-up phase of their business and beyond.
