Course Summary
This course provides public services provision as a stand-alone qualification allowing you to study for the equivalent of 1 AS Level or 1 A Level. This will enable you to gain an extra qualification before the summer. This course is ideal for school leavers or those who are looking to achieve an additional qualification prior to joining the services.
You will have the opportunity to meet and talk to various public services when they visit the College for career presentations and practical activities.
You can also learn new skills, interests and friends by enrolling on the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Scheme.
Course Details
BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Public Services – Delivered Jan to March 2021
The BTEC Level 3 Certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Certificate is broadly equivalent to one GCE AS Level.
Units covered are:
Unit 1- Government Policies and the Public services (10 Credits)
Unit 3- Citizenship and the Public Services (15 Credits)
Unit 8- Understand the Impact of War, Conflict and Terrorism on Public Services (5 Credits) (Distance learning)
On successful completion of the Level 3 Certificate should you wish to continue with your qualification, the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma will enable you to improve on your knowledge of the Public Services. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services – Delivered April to July 2021
The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector.
Additional units are:
Unit 2- Teamwork and Leadership (15 Credits)
Unit 11- Water/Land Based Outdoor Adventurous Activities (10 Credits)
Unit 17 – Police Powers in the Public Services (5 Credits) (Distance learning)
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment will be through course work and written assignments, PowerPoint presentations and practical assessment where required.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs Grade C/4 or above
