Course Summary

The new Level 3 BTEC Sport programmes are designed with clear career goals in mind and has been developed with a range of professional bodies including CIMSPA – the Chartered Institute for Management in Sport and Physical Activity and The Register of Exercise Professionals (REP).

Accreditation by CIMSPA is important: once you have completed your BTEC qualification, you can apply to become a CIMSPA member – and this is really helpful when applying for jobs in the fitness and coaching industry since it gives professional credibility.

Now, more than ever, health and fitness are important in our daily lives. There are over 7000 gyms in the UK with more than 10 million members providing employment opportunities to people with industry-recognised qualifications.

This qualification has been developed in consultation with both employers and higher education institutions and provides the knowledge and skills development required for professional accreditation with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and the Chartered Institute of Management for Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) Gym Instructor standards.

This qualification also offers you the opportunity to progress to higher education, including our own Foundation Degree and BSc Top Up, validated by Hull University.

The Fitness pathway is predominantly based our Bridlington Campus, utilising our gym, pitches and MUGA.

You will gain experience of working with groups and individual clients to develop training sessions which help them meet their training or health goals. You will learn how to give nutritional advice and guidance to clients together with developing business and technology knowledge required to set up and manage your own personal training business.
