Course Summary
A varied programme including academic subjects and lectures, practical horse care tuition, riding instruction and work experience.
Course Details
The course is well designed and popular with school leavers who want an understanding of what an equine career involves. It is designed for students who wish to undertake a vocational study programme which combines academic study and practical based learning. This course provides an excellent introduction to all aspects of horse care and equitation.
Students wishing to undertake this course are expected to be willing to work hard on the stable yard and be enthusiastic to learn about horse care. Physical activity therefore forms a large part of the course. Students will be expected to be hard working and ‘hands on’ in both the practical and academic aspects of the course.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is a mixture of theory and practical work.
Assessment is through an externally set, internally marked synoptic assignment and an external test.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above to include two from English, maths and Science, with at least a grade 2 in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.
