Course Summary
Selby College is offering working adults the opportunity to rapidly upskill and retrain into higher skilled jobs through its brand-new training programme.
As part of the government’s pledge to reduce skills gaps and boost access to more high-quality training alternatives, Selby College has developed a new course to provide working adults with technical training in Industrial and Automation.
Designed to meet future skills needs, this course aims to provide adults with the technical training to be able to rapidly upskill in digital technologies.
The programme is designed to provide learners with an overview of Industrial Control and Automation, including an introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Pneumatics.
With a blend of classroom and remote learning, learners have a greater flexibility in how and when they learn, so that they can fit it around their lives and commitments.
This course offers the perfect opportunity for learners to retrain or upskill. Although it is applicable to working adults/employees from all backgrounds, it may appeal to certain professionals, including:

Air filtration and drying
Applications of pneumatics and hydraulics

Employed individuals could progress onto roles with increased level of responsibility particularly where those roles utilise equipment associated with control and automation such as PLCs, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Compressors etc.
Job seekers and career changers would be better placed to gain employment within the manufacturing and engineering sectors in roles such as engineering Technician, Maintenance Technician, Production Line Operator or through an engineering Apprenticeship.
