These fees relate to 2023/24 Course costs for students aged 19 or over - £2,583.00 If you are aged between 19 to 23 and you have not already achieved a full level 3 (or above) qualification, then your course may be free. If you are aged over 19 and have achieved a full level 3 qualification or are aged over 24 you are probably eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan from the government to cover your tuition fees. Course Summary

This course of study provides an introduction to how the buildings, infrastructure and landscape around us come into existence. This qualification provides an insight to the world of the built environment sector, which covers all aspects of the creation of our towns and cities, and is fundamental to creating a sustainable future.

Course Details

You will study four mandatory units for this qualification. Please note there is no optional content in this qualification.

You will study:

• Health and Safety

• Construction Principles

• Construction design

• Construction Technology


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Two units are externally assessed through examination and synoptic assessment. These are set for January and May.

Two units are assessed through assignment work.


Entry requirements

You are expected to hold a suitable Level 2 qualification or equivalent or to have suitable work experience.

Your next steps...

Successful completion of this Level 3 qualification will enable you to progress to the BTEC Edexcel Level 4 HNC Construction and the Built Environment (offered by Wakefield College).


Successful students regularly gain technician status in the fields of Architecture and Design, Quantity Surveying, Estimation, Buying, Building Surveying, Site Management, Clerk of Works, Building Control, Site Foremanship and Supervision, Structural Engineering.
