Course Summary

CatZero is a local organisation supporting people to change their lives. We offer Full Family Support as well as specific help in getting into work, training or education.

Our delivery teams are there to help our clients through the barriers they are facing to living the life they want.

Based throughout the Humber Region, we have delivery centres in Hull on the Marina and at the Freedom Centre Preston Road, in Grimsby at the Hub on Freeman Street and our Scunthorpe Centre.


Course Details

Sessions will include an initial meeting where the participant and Progressions officer can start to plan the content of their uniquely tailored programme. This will include

  • Personal Action Planning – ‘Where are you now? Where do you want to be? How are you going to get there? Always working with the participant so they are fully engaged and at the centre of decision making
  • Applying for realistic, meaningful, sustainable employment, education and training opportunities in a rapidly changing labour market, researching and responding quickly to jobs advertised
  • CV writing along with Cover and Speculative Letters
  • Support to effectively apply for opportunities via the internet, ie. uploading CV to vacancies posted online, completing application forms, completing online pre-selection scenario questions as used by large employers (for example, Heron Foods, Kwik Fit, Aldi etc.), opportunities via LinkedIn, Facebook, Gumtree etc.
  • Support to approach employers directly for non-advertised job opportunities
  • Provide realistic interview practice including mock interviews; face to face, panel, technical, etc.
  • Encouraging positive attitudes to finding work, emphasising the benefits of being in work,
  • We will introduce concepts of employment and an understanding of zero hours contracts, the gig economy, fixed term contracts, contracts of employment, self-employment, hours of work the Living Wage, National Minimum Wage etc.
  • Addressing issues of self-awareness and positive self-presentation. Additionally, sessions emphasising the importance of an understanding of rights and responsibilities at work, and expectations of behaviour at work, including how to make a positive impact and overcoming negative perceptions of the workplace.
  • We can offer ‘in work’ support to the participant and the employer if and when identified and help to overcome problems/issues that may arise in the first few months of employment
