Course Summary

You will learn what is meant by autism and the theories used in diagnosing the conditions that can co-occur. You will learn about using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism, how to incorporate the preferences and needs of the individuals, and the support networks available to individuals and their families. You will also learn about the delays and difficulties in speech, language and communication that individuals with autism can face. You will look at the different methods and strategies that can be used to communicate with an individual with autism.
