Course Summary

The aim of this one-year time course is to enable mature learners to gain entry to higher education. The Level Three Access to Higher Education Diploma programme provides an entry qualification to a range of under graduate programmes and degrees at local and national universities. The course is fast paced and will normally be time tabled for approx 15 hours per week, across three days for the full academic year.

Course Details

This course is available as seven pathways depending on the area you plan to focus on in your degree and career. You will cover a range of key skills, such as academic writing, research skills and referencing with the pathway including units such as: Business pathway Managing and leadership Marketing an organisation Ethics in business Law pathway Contract Law Criminal Law The English legal system Health science profession pathway Biology Sociology Psychology Social science pathway Social welfare Psychology Sociology Sport Sport and fitness Psychology Anatomy and physiology Education Skills for Learning Education studies Science Sustainable Construction pathway Environmental science Sustainability construction technology Low carbon techniques and technologies used in buildings

How will it be delivered and assessed?

A variety of assessment methods are used, typically including assignments, presentations, essays and examination.

Entry requirements

Good level two (GCSE) skills with at least a minimum of three GCSEs at C or above, to include English and mathematics, plus successful initial assessment or Level Two Diploma in Progression and GCSE mathamatics and English at C or above, plus successful initial assessment For people whose first language is not English, you must have GCSE English at grade C or above or IELTS 7 (International English Language Testing System) In addition a range of evidence will be considered when assessing the potential of an applicant to succeed on this course, such as life skills, previous employment, prior achievements and professional qualifications
