Course Summary
BTEC Sport which will be a good follow on from GCSE PE and those who have passion , interest and prowess in sports and physical education.
Needs to be combined with other subjects to form a 3 A level pathway.
Course Details
Units studied: Exam units: H555/01 Physiological factors affecting performance - 30% of total A Level •
1.1 Applied anatomy and physiology • 1.2 Exercise physiology • 1.3 Biomechanics H555/02 Psychological factors affecting performance - 20% of total A Level • 2.1 Skill acquisition • 2.2 Sports psychology H555/03 Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport - 20% of total A Level • 3.1 Sport and society • 3.2 Contemporary issues in physical activity and sport Practical component
H555/05 Practical Performances This component will assess either - 15% of the total A level • Core and advanced skills in performing one activity or • Core and advanced skills in coaching one activity H555/06 Evaluating and Analysing Performance for Improvement – 15% of total A Level.

Examined Units and Practical Assessment in one sport or the coaching of a sport
Entry requirements
5 GCSE's at Grade four or above which must include English Language and Maths. A strong outcome at GCSE for PE/Sport is desirable to be successful at A level.
Course availability is at the discretion of the Sixth Form Team.
