Giroscope (19+)
Giroscope
The project tackles the key transition point from moving from unemployment into work. All potential beneficiaries are given an initial assessment which assesses their aims and goals and are given advice on short and long term goals and how these can be achieved. This can be managed on a one to one basis or within a group situation, which suits the individual.
Giroscope (Hull) offer work experience and skills training in four main areas Construction/house renovation, Bike recycling workshop, Cooking project and a Computer recycling unit. They also offer wrap round support such as help with debt and housing etc.
The project provides voluntary work experience, skills training and support to help individuals move towards, and into employment, or further training/education.
Short training courses are available to complement the training gained on-site/on the project to help improve someone’s employability. These training courses include Level 2 Food Hygiene, First Aid, Manual Handling and Customer Service.
Beneficiaries gain improved life and transferrable skills such as developing work routines, managing responsibility, working to deadlines, following instructions and working with others. These activities help improve volunteers’ confidence, motivation and well-being.
