Why should I study this course?
Beauty and Spa Therapy is a thriving industry based on providing facial and body treatments that improve how clients look and feel. This is a one year course which follows on from our Level 2 course to develop your skills in beauty therapy. It will provide you with the opportunity to become ready for work as a beauty therapist with a high level of occupational competency.
As with the Level 2 course, you should be a positive and motivated person, enjoy working with people, be able to provide your own models and be a model yourself for beauty therapy treatments.
What will I study?
You will build upon your existing experience and learn the more advanced theoretical and practical aspects of beauty therapy. Teaching will take place in both the classroom and in the college’s impressive and fully-equipped training salon, where you will develop your understanding of the practices and procedures needed for a career in beauty therapy.
The course is broken down into a number of units, covering a wide range of salon procedures and practices.
The units you must study are:
- Working with colleagues within beauty related industries
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Provide body massage
- Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
- Provide body electrotherapy treatments
You must also study optional units that could include:
- Provide Indian head massage
- Apply individual permanent lashes
- Apply micro-dermabrasion
As an approximate guideline, you should be practicing your beauty therapy skills and developing your knowledge for around 9 hours per week. Ideally you will find regular work experience within the beauty therapy industry.
How is the course assessed?
The assessment for the qualification will require you to perform practical tasks and also show your knowledge and understanding in assignments and on-line tests.
What materials will I need to provide?
