Course Summary

As a brick worker you will often be required to work using your own initiative in this specialist field whilst seeking management support when required. Working under fully trained construction workers with a wealth of experience, and attending college training sessions, you will over the period of the apprenticeship become fully trained and competent in measuring the work area and setting out the first rows of bricks (courses) and the damp course. Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer. Laying bricks and applying the mortar with a trowel. Shaping and trimming bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools. Checking that courses are straight and true using an appropriate level. Tidying up after completion of jobs. Other ad-hoc duties as required

Course Details

An Excellent opportunity has arisen for a young person to join a local business as a brickwork apprentice. You will work on a wide range of sites and projects and you will be trained in all aspects of brickwork and labouring whilst working alongside experienced construction workers.


Entry requirements

GCSE Maths and English A-C/9-4 or level 2 in functional skills are desirable but not essential .

Basic knowledge of working with hand tools and small battery operated power tools is desirable but not essential. Good hand eye co-ordination

Motivated and willing to learn is essential, good communicator, reliable and Punctual
