Course Summary
The Hair Professionals Standard– Hairdressing is a newly created qualification based on employer needs and has been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the Hair Professional arena.
The Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals will lead to the achievement of the Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard alongside the relevant functional skills.
This a qualification designed for learners who are 16+ years and who wish to develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin to work as a Hairdresser. They may have previously completed a Level 1 qualification in the relevant subject area.
Learners wishing to complete these qualifications will be doing so as an employed, apprentice in a real work environment.
Course Details
You will complete 5 mandatory units -
201 Consultation
202 Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
203 Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
204 Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to achieve a variety of looks
205 Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
Plus 1 Optional unit -
206 Perming hair
You will then enter End point assessment.
How will it be delivered?
The on-programme stage of the qualification is assessed by centre assessors and is pass/fail only. You will also complete a Portfolio and Online test OR short answer question test
The end-point assessment stage of the qualification is assessed by a City & Guilds Independent End Point Assessor and is graded pass/distinction. The grade achieved for the end-point assessment will be the grade for the overall qualification.
Entry requirements
Apprentices without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment. They must also sit the level 2 test for both English and Maths.
